GLYN MARSTON

              London marathon 2016

London marathon 24th April 2016, the first part of Glyn's  CHALLENGE LONDON.

The first time he had ran a 26.2 mile marathon in ten years 'and' carrying a heavy costume, so this was going to be a most gruelling test of endurance and strength of mind.

At Blackheath and preparing to go to the Blue start of the marathon.

Spectators were calling out to have a photograph of the 'Gorilla man'.

This added to the excitement of the day and added more fun to the whole event for Glyn.

Heading toward the finish line and still smiling, Glyn had a group of young ladies whom followed him along the route holding a cardboard placard with the words "GORILLA MAN- WE LOVE YOU XXX".

These women had helped Glyn along the route by the cheering they gave him from different tube stations... Glyn had a fan club on the day.

Shouts of encouragement were a pleasant distraction for Glyn and Gordon (the gorilla).

The finish line was in sight and this great acheivement was almost complete, when it comes to gruelling challenges- Glyn is there to take them on , especially for charity.... This is why Glyn is affectionately known as 'Walsall's running Ambassador' by the communities of Walsall (and not a self title).

Running over London bridge ( as he had done so many times in previous London marathons) Glyn was greeted by the Epilepsy action team who cheered him on as he passed.

At this the point the costume became increasingly heavy and rather awkward to carry but Glyn stuck to his mission to reach the finish line.

The gorilla enjoyed the day too ( I think- well he didn't do any complaining).

The first part of CHALLENGE LONDON over and now the second part - cycle 100 London - Surrey.

The Mall, The finish line, the medal, the gorilla, the cage and Walsall's true running Ambassador.

What a gruelling challenge, an energy sapping performance- but he made it with his 'gorilla'.

Glyn ( and Gordon the gorilla) have recieved a lot of requests to attend charity events and presentations, so this could be a new double act in the region and a new way of boosting the already enormous amount of fundraising that Glyn has achieved so far.

On the finish line with the Epilepsy Action team.

A hero's welcome awaited Glyn as the crew could not believe that Glyn had made it the whole distance with such a costume.

And lets not forget that he was taking on this challenge with a replacement 'Titanium' knee.

Proudly showing off his finishers medal and proud that he is yet again raising funds for a good cause.
