Photos from the gruelling cycling challenge of 2017- 1400km cycle event.

On the 30th of July 2017, Glyn set off from Loughton on the biggest cycle challenge of the year.

He was inexperienced on this event and eventually that would show through and bring Glyn to work hard against the odds in his bid to be successful. A heavy rucksack on his back put extra pressure on his hands and caused damage to his ulnar nerves which resulted in his left hand becoming completely numb and unable to control the rear brake on his bike, he made the agonising decision to withdraw for safety reasons.

But he had a great few days on the challenge and the pride of cycling almost 370 miles non stop from London to Alston in the Pennines before calling it a day ( see map below).

A brave effort and one to be proud of.

Taken from Glyn's GPS account, the route and distance covered by Glyn on the London - Edinburgh - London 2017.

A badly damaged Ulnar nerve to the left hand was to see the hand go completely numb and meant that Glyn was no longer able to safely control his bike.

After considering his options - he was forced to make the decision to call it a day for safety reasons.

Glyn has vowed to return to the next 'LEL' event in 2021 and hopes to complete the ride.

The new cycle jersey that will be worn by Glyn Marston on his 2017 challenges. The good folk at Owayo sportswear (click on image to go to website) have helped design this great bit of kit based on Glyn's design around the Willenhall flag.

Flying the flag for his town, raising the profile of Willenhall and raising money for charity- 2017 will be a huge year for Walsall's Ambassador.

The banner that will be autographed by celebrities and auctioned at the end of the year to boost the fundraising. Sporting the Willenhall flag and the logos of the chosen charities this banner will be following Glyn on most of his challenges.

Great news, Glyn Marston has his place confirmed in the 1400km 'LONDON-EDINBURGH-LONDON 2017' event.

A non stop sportive over 5 days whereas our hero will cycle            ( through the dark hours of the evenings) all the way from London to Edinburgh and back to London.

Obviuosly raising funds for charities along the way and flying the flag for Willenhall.

This what Glyn is hopeful of coming home with in August, but whatever the outcome - Glyn is feeling really honoured to be part of such an epic challenge.
